East Williston was incorporated in 1926. The village was originally called “The North Side” before being renamed “Williston” due to families with the name “Willis” residing in the area. It was then renamed to East Williston to differentiate it from another “Williston”. The other Williston is a hamlet in the Town of Marilla in Erie County.
